Sneinton C of E Primary School Community Allotment
Supported by National Lottery Awards for All until 2026

Sneinton St Stephen's C of E Primary School was gifted use of an allotment space next to the school on The Greens and Shilton allotment site many years ago.
Sneinton C of E have worked together with Sowing Sneinton to apply for funding from National Lottery Community Fund and Tesco Community Grant to rennovate the allotment and make it accessible both to the school and to the local community.
So far we have had:
Two plant and seed swaps
A Community Wassail
Community gardening sessions
Parent gardening and harvesting sessions
Run an after school allotment club
A medicinal herb walk open to the wider community
Hosted a Nature in Mind session - for adults managing mental ill health
Hosted SEND alternative education sessions for a term
Hosted sessions for most school classes
We have bought a tool shed and made the space sigificantly more useable, clearing the brambles and ivy and finding the back of the space. We have rennovated most of the raised beds, bought blueberry bushes, lots of herbs, pruned the fruit trees and bushes, mostly woodchipped the space and the path from school to the allotment. Gained a mini greenhouse to put seedlings in, bought science equipment (microscopes, litmus paper, hand lenses), created a fire pit and cooked vegetable soup and toast for school families.
